A meal with room for everyone

Time Out Market occupies part of the Mercado da Ribeira in Cais do Sodré. Its food counters and shared tables make it an easy place to meet when everyone wants something different. Think of it as a busy food hall: the pleasure is in looking around before deciding what to eat.

The selection changes, so the market’s own restaurant directory is more useful than a fixed list of stalls. Choose a main dish, then leave room to explore the pastry counters or have a drink.

Finding your rhythm

Walk through the hall before ordering and agree where to meet if your group splits up. Different counters prepare food separately, so everyone’s dishes may arrive at different times. Outside the usual lunch and dinner rush, it can be easier to settle in and take your time.

Check prices at the counter before ordering; the total depends on your choice of food and drinks. For current opening hours, use the official website—the market’s published pages do not all show the same closing time.

Getting there

The market is at Mercado da Ribeira, Avenida 24 de Julho. Cais do Sodré metro station, on the Green Line, is nearby; the Cascais railway line also terminates here. The market’s directions page explains the main connections.

A taxi or Uber is another option: use Time Out Market Lisboa as your destination. After lunch, continue along the river or head uphill into Chiado. If you prefer a smaller neighbourhood market, read our Campo de Ourique guide.
