Lisbon at a neighbourhood pace
Campo de Ourique is a good choice when you want a day shaped by cafés, small shops and everyday streets. Its residential character gives you a different perspective from the riverfront monuments and the busiest central squares.
Begin at the market
Mercado de Campo de Ourique is a natural centre for a visit. Browse before deciding what to eat and treat lunch as part of the walk rather than a fixed appointment. Around it, bakeries and traditional shops give you reasons to take a different street on the way back.
This is also a useful place to notice the ordinary routines of the city: shopping, coffee breaks and people meeting close to home. Give the neighbourhood enough time for those small stops.

Books and quieter corners
Casa Fernando Pessoa adds a literary thread to the day; consult its official programme if you want to visit the museum or attend an event. Jardim da Parada, also known as Jardim Teófilo Braga, offers a place to sit between walks.
The nearby Cemitério dos Prazeres is a different kind of stop, with architecture and a quieter atmosphere. Remember that it remains a cemetery and plan your visit respectfully.
Planning the visit
Campo de Ourique works best on foot once you arrive. Check the current transport options in the practical notes, especially if your plan relies on a tram. You can also arrive by taxi or Uber and use the market as a clear meeting point.
If you want to combine it with another area, look towards Estrela rather than trying to fit the entire city into the same afternoon. For a contrasting food-hall visit on another day, see Time Out Market.
